Living Proof Review

Last month I inquired with you all on your favorite hair volumizing system, I received so many good recommendations, but ended up deciding to try the Living Proof volumizing system. I knew I wanted to try it before fully committing, so I headed to my local Ulta and  purchased the 2oz versions of the Full Thickening Cream, Full Conditioner, Full Dry Volume Blast, Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo (which has a cult following), & the Perfect Hair Day Body Builder hairspray. I did, however, purchase the full size shampoo, because I knew I would use the most of that.

Let me start with this system is NOT cheap. I basically only purchased the travel size items and it was over $100! I'm not the kinda girl that usually invests that kind of money in hair products, but I knew I wanted something that was going to work and not leave any heavy residue. I'm going to be reviewing each individual item and how they work together. From smell to durability, I'm going over the whole 9 yards of this system.

Living Proof Full Shampoo 8oz $28

I'm going to be blunt, this is the absolute BEST volumizing shampoo I have ever used. You can literally feel the texture it gives as soon as you start washing your hair. I do find the scent to be a little overwhelming when you're in the shower, but it smells amazing after drying and styling. I will say, I have a pretty oily scalp, I would think that if you have dry hair/scalp, this would probably be very drying. So just keep that in mind. Definitely giving this one 5 stars. I will definitely continue using it! One of the best things about this shampoo is a little goes a long way. I only have to use a quarter size amount for my shoulder length hair!

Living Proof Full Conditioner 2oz $12

Because of my oily scalp/ hair I only condition my hair once a week, and only if I do not plan on styling it. I do like this conditioner, my hair is instantly softer and shinier when I use this conditioner. If you have dry hair you probably definitely need to add this to your cart when buying the shampoo.  Just like the shampoo, a little does a long way, I probably use a nickel size amount, and never on my roots. The 2oz version will probably last me 6 months with as little as I use. 4 stars.

Living Proof Full Thickening Cream 2oz $16

I typically have great results from thickening cream/ lotions. Not this one. This one is obviously pricey and definitely doesn't do the job. My hair looks and feels the exact same with or without this one. I actually ended up doing a comparison between this and the Garnier Fructis Mega Full Thickening lotion, and the Garnier won by 100 miles. I wouldn't waste my money on this again. 0 stars.

Living Proof Full Dry Blast Volume 3oz $15

Love. All. Day. This stuff is SOOOOOOOO good. I have used a lot of products like this and they always make my roots feel like concrete, or they put out too much product and it ends up being goopy in one spot and nothing in another. Not this one. Its very light, it smells wonderful and it really lasts. I spray in my roots, give a little tousle and bam, gorgeous volume. I have not teased my hair with this yet, but I'm sure it will work wonders. 5 stars.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo 1.8oz $14

This was my biggest disappointment. This dry shampoo has a HUGE following, thousands of people rave about it, it's probably Living Proof's biggest selling product. I just didn't LOVE it. Number one, its way to expensive for what it is. I wouldn't say its the worst, or necessarily bad, but it's just not worth the hype (or $$$). I felt like it took a LOT of dry shampoo for my hair to really look clean with it and I felt like my hair was pretty oily again within a couple of hours. 2 stars.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Body Builder 2.8oz $15

I really enjoy this product. However, if you are looking for extreme hold this is not the hairspray for you. (spend the money and buy the Kenra, just do it) This is perfect for flipping your hair upside down and giving it a spritz for added volume, but not for holding curls or getting a TV worthy bob. My favorite thing about it is you can adjust the nozzle based on if you are spraying a large section or if you are needing a more direct spray.  4 stars.

I have been using all of the products for a little over a month now. I generally enjoy them, but the only ones I believe are worth the hype is the shampoo itself and the volume blast. I hope this comes in handy for someone else. In the mean time I'll still be trying to find the perfect dry shampoo, recommendations welcome!

Xoxo,

Shelby C.
